Staff at Bogota’s El Dorado Airport found on Friday night the lifeless bodies of two stowaways who had climbed onto the landing gear of a Colombian airline Avianca plane.
«Upon verifications, two bodies were found: subject 1, located on the right landing gear and subject 2, located on the left landing gear», reported the Technical Body of Criminal and Judicial Investigation (CTI) of the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office, according to the newspaper ‘El Tiempo’.
Staff from the Prosecutor’s Office inspected the bodies at around 4:30 a.m. and noted that, apparently, they are minors (both male) and that the state of decomposition was not high. «The flight had arrived from Santiago de Chile», said a judicial source quoted by ‘El Tiempo’.
«By protocol and routine, those places of the aircrafts are not checked continuously. In this case, the aircraft had been checked ten days ago. We don’t know if they died on the outbound flight to Chile or on the return flight. The forensic report will establish that,» explained other sources.
