Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba said Friday that the possibility of breaking off diplomatic relations with Iran depends on Tehran’s «behavior», especially in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In this regard, he pointed out that the decision «could be taken at any time», always depending on the attitude of the Iranian authorities, which Kiev accuses of supplying drones to Russia.
«This can be presented to the president at any time, it is a matter that is on the table,» he said in an interview with the BBC television network. Thus, he has stated that he does not know who is behind the alleged drone attack against a military facility in the province of Isfahan, in the center of Iran, an issue that has also caused an increase in tension between the parties.
«Historically we have done nothing to Iran. They started supplying kamikaze drones to Russia. They crossed the red line,» asserted Kuleba, who stressed that the attacks on Iranian soil are a sign that «no matter how much you think you benefit from Russia’s cooperation because it always brings negative consequences.»
The drone attack took place on January 29 in Iran and subsequently the advisor to the Ukrainian Presidency, Mikhail Podoliak, published a message on his Twitter account in which he ironized about what happened, which led the Iranian government to summon the Ukrainian chargé d’affaires in Tehran.
