German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock assured Sunday that Germany «will not object» if other countries intend to deliver German-made Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine. Poland has already expressed its intention to deliver these weapons to Kiev.
«We have not been asked the question so far, but if we are asked, we will not object,» Baerbock said in an interview with French LCI television when asked what would happen if Poland delivers Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine.
So far Germany has so far refused to deliver these tanks to Kiev and Poland has criticized Berlin’s «unacceptable» stance on the matter.
«Almost a year has passed since the outbreak of the war. The evidence of Russian war crimes can even be seen on YouTube. What more does Germany need to open its eyes and start acting in accordance with its potential?» claimed Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Sunday.
Finland has also indicated its willingness to provide Leopard tanks to the Ukrainian army, but, like Poland, it needs Germany’s approval as the manufacturer of these tanks.
