Russia on Thursday called «ridiculous» Ukraine’s statements disassociating itself from Wednesday’s drone attack on the Kremlin, which Moscow described as an assassination attempt on President Vladimir Putin, while pointing out that the order was allegedly given by the U.S. authorities.
»These decisions, the definition of targets and means, everything is dictated to Kiev from Washington. We are well aware of this,» said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who stressed that the anti-aircraft defense systems will be »reinforced» in the area, as reported by the Russian daily Izvestia.
»Everything will be reinforced,» he said, while stressing that Putin »remained calm» during the event. In difficult moments and in extreme situations, the president always remains calm, he is clear in his assessments and in the orders he gives», he emphasized, before stressing that in this case »nothing new happened».
He also said that the Victory Day parade, scheduled for May 9, will take place in Moscow’s Red Square, »with no changes in the plans», before saying that there is no meeting of the Russian National Security Council scheduled to discuss the drone attack, which ended without casualties.
Peskov also stressed that Moscow’s response to the incident will take place »in a balanced manner» and »in line with the country’s interests,» after the Kremlin said Wednesday following the incident that »Russia reserves the right to take measures in response where and when it deems appropriate.»
